It's 2018 and can you already believe its February? Do not fret, as there is still 10 solid months left of 2018. Which gives you enough time to stick to your New Years Resolution! Here are 4 tips on how to achieve your New Years Resolution!
Be specific with your goals and what you would like to achieve. Don't create vague goals such as 'losing weight'. Specify how much weight you would like to lose.
What you should be thinking is "I want to lose 5 pounds in the next two months or by March 30th."
Being more specific about these goals will remind you to take certain steps towards achieving them. In comparison to having the thought of "losing weight" in the back of your mind, that may prolong achieving your goals, whereas the idea of losing exactly 5 pounds will motivate a quicker progress.
2. Share & Support
Publicize your goals to those you trust. By telling your friends or family about your New Years Resolution, you will be accountable to someone other than yourself. This will keep you motivated to keep to your word and goals, and your supporters will be there to help you.
Sharing your experiences, struggles and successes with a supportive group will make achieving your goals much easier.
3. Make a Plan
Now you have that specific New Years Resolution to achieve, plan out how you will achieve it. Whether that's gaining the right tools, joining a gym, eating a light dinner, save money, whatever it is, discipline these rules and enforce them.
4. Deal with Missteps
Progress isn't a straight line. There may be setbacks along the way to achieving your New Year's resolution, but the best thing you can do is have a backup plan and plan accordingly in case you fall off track. It's also important not to bring yourself down so hard for trivial missteps.
Setting up a daily routine to follow will develop a habit of sticking to your New Years Resolution. Maintaining this habit may become life changing and you might just surprise yourself by the end of this year!
